Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Policy 

  • Connected In Nature CIC is committed to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) in all aspects of our work. We believe that everyone should have equal opportunities to participate in our outdoor educational and therapeutic activities, regardless of background, identity, or ability. This policy outlines our approach to ensuring a fair, inclusive, and respectful environment for all.

This policy applies to all staff, volunteers, service users, visitors, and stakeholders involved in our activities and services.

This policy aims to: 

  • Foster an inclusive and welcoming environment, being aware of using language that is accessible and inclusive. 

  • Prevent discrimination, harassment, and victimisation. 

  • Promote equal opportunities in participation, employment, and decision-making. 

  • Comply with relevant legislation, including the Equality Act 2010.

Connected In Nature CIC is committed to: 

  • Treating all individuals with dignity and respect. 

  • Ensuring accessibility and reasonable adjustments for disabled individuals. Including the endeavour to provide

 

wheelchair accessible sites wherever possible. 

  • Adopting the European Accessibility Act-level accessibility standards. 

  • Challenging discrimination, harassment, and bullying. 

  • Promoting inclusive practices in recruitment, training, and service delivery. 

  • Celebrating diversity and recognising the value of different perspectives. 

  • Not making assumptions, particularly based on diagnosis and self-declared conditions. 

  • Remembering that all behaviour is communication, and do our best to assess the feelings and needs of the individual

  • with empathy.

This policy aligns with the Equality Act 2010 and The Mental Health Act 2007, which protects individuals from discrimination based on protected characteristics, including:

  • Age 

  • Race 

  • Gender/identity 

  • Disability and diagnosis or self diagnosis 

  • Economic status 

  • Education status 

  • Pregnancy and maternity 

  • Religion or belief 

  • Sex 

  • Sexual orientation

To uphold this, policy we will: 

  • Create an environment of inclusivity agreements amongst participants within all group activities. 

  • Ensure all volunteers and staff are familiar with and adhering to EDI principles. 

  • Ensure our services are inclusive and accessible. 

  • Monitor and review our practices regularly. 

  • Address any complaints or concerns promptly.

Reporting and Complaints

  • Any concerns regarding discrimination, harassment, or exclusion should be reported to Victoria Clark at victoria@connectednature.co.uk. Complaints will be handled fairly and confidentially, following our grievance procedures. Refer to Complaints Procedure

Monitoring and Review

  • This policy will be reviewed annually to ensure it remains relevant and effective. Amendments will be made as necessary to reflect best practices and legal updates. 

​

This policy has been approved by Connected Nature CIC and is effective from 20/03/2025
